I was a member of a panel yesterday on HuffPost Live! regarding unpaid internships in light of the decision from the Southern District of New York that the unpaid interns that worked for Fox Searchlight and its production company on Black Swan in 2010 should have been paid. One of the panelists was one of the plaintiffs in that case, Eric Glatt. A very interesting discussion on what a true internship should be and how to structure it. In addition to the link (below), I have also posted a link to the DOL Wage and Hour fact sheet on unpaid internships. Do most hospital internship programs meet the six-part test? If not, what can hospitals do to ensure compliance? live.huffingtonpost.com/r/segment/fox-searchlight-loses-lawsuit-over-internships/51b8834802a760769200006awww.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.pdf
